Do you crave slow cooked food that melts in you mouth? Are you looking for Vancouver's best pulled pork sandwich? Well Fairview's Memphis Blues Barbeque House on Broadway can deliver. This is what my mother calls "comfort food", reason being, sometimes your body just needs mashed potatoes and baked beans. Actually, I'm not sure your body really needs these "fixins" as they are called but they sure tasted good going down. I'm not going to recommend this spot for those of us on a strict diet of any kind. But meat eaters and foodies will find some delicious offerings here that you won't come across any place else north of the border. The Catfish Po' Boy comes breaded and fried and the BBQ is pretty darn flavorful with flavorings that you won't soon forget. Those of us who have not tried the "sweet tea" of the South should use this is a chance to experiment. Even if the liquid sugar isn't authentic you can still taste a bit of southern culture as you sip your tall glass of iced tea and dig into a unpretentious plate of meat and vegetables.
Enjoy the good vibes coming from the speakers here and the others who frequent this restaurant. The staff does seemed genuinely concerned with making you feel at home. Heck who know you may even here a "Y'all come back now, you hear?" Well probably not but that's OK the food is a change of pace from west coast cuisine.
